I have always had an affinity with holistic therapies such as massage, acupressure and Aromatherapy, which was nurtured during my childhood raised with an Indian heritage. In our ancestral home, on the outskirts of Kolkata, India, we lived as an extended family, thirty or more members and many children. The home had a big courtyard with a temple within it and its own lake. There were long balconies and rooftops, for us all to play, study, celebrate life and festivals as well as occasionally the mourning of passed relatives. Massage and scents are used extensively from birth through to the end of life. We would bathe and swim in the lake, wash and be massaged with various oils, there were always the smells of Neem, sandalwood, Rose, Jasmine filling the air, and our home with incense sticks and scented burners. There were other smells of spices from the wonderful cooking and the abundant smell of roses, carnations, lilies, hibiscus, and lotus flowers for the garlands (Malas) and pujas.

I have an extensive background in Psychology and Health and Social Care, Where I have carried out roles which required sensitivity, empathy as well as resilience, to enable me to support or advocate for people who have had difficulties or been in vulnerable situations. I have also worked within multidisciplinary teams which involved teams working with clients from a variety of modalities and have seen how reflexology and other body work has achieved great results, enabling Clients to feel more relaxed and connected to themselves and others. Together all these influences and experiences add to my reflexology practice.

I am an experienced and empathetic reflexologist who is passionate about helping people through Reflexology.

Brief history of Reflexology

Reflexology’s journey began over 5000 years ago, with roots in ancient healing practices of India and China. In India, it was part of Ayurveda, focusing on the balance of energy in the body, while in China, it developed alongside acupuncture, emphasizing the flow of Qi.

Western reflexology has its roots in the early 20th century,Dr. William H. Fitzgerald from the United States introduced the concept of “Zone Therapy,” which is the foundation of modern reflexology. Fitzgerald’s work was based on the idea that applying pressure to specific areas on the feet and hands could alleviate pain in corresponding parts of the body within the same zone.

The practice was further developed by Eunice Ingham in the 1930s, also in the US. She is credited with mapping the foot and hand charts used today and developing the thumb and finger walking technique that is characteristic of reflexology. Ingham’s method, termed “Reflexology,” emphasized the science of reflex areas and their relation to bodily organs and systems. Her work laid the groundwork for reflexology as a popular complementary therapy in Western countries.

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying varied pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, and sometimes the ears and face. These points are thought to reflect different body areas and emotional states. By applying pressure, I aim to support your body’s balance and well-being, potentially easing stress and discomfort. It’s known for stimulating nerve endings, which may enhance bodily functions and energy, and can help clear pathways, possibly improving organ efficiency and metabolism. The result is often a sense of calm and relaxation.”

As a reflexologist, my work revolves around promoting well-being, relaxation, and balance through targeted touch therapy. Let me provide you with an overview of what I do and how it can benefit clients:

What I offer.

My treatment room in Willesden Green, North West London is a place of tranquillity, every session is tailored just for you. There will be an initial consultation where I will get to know a little bit about you, such as your health, daily routines, and some past information – all in strictest confidence.

I will also find out what you want from the Reflexology treatments. This will all help in creating a bespoke treatment plan for you and for the best outcomes.

Whether I’ll be working on your hands or your feet, using essential oil in a diffuser or in the wax that I use for you, (these can aid relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing) or I can use none. We can also discuss any other allergy matters or preferences.

The treatments I offer are more than just a chance to unwind; it will be a journey into what effects reflexology can bring to you. My clients are often surprised by the positive effects of reflexology.

It is of course possible to have one or as many treatments as you wish, however usually after the initial full reflexology treatment, where I will cover the whole of the body’s system, I can create a treatment plan which is usually for

4-6 sessions, 10 sessions, or otherwise ongoing on weekly, fortnightly, or monthly treatments that will keep you on the continued path of relaxation, balance and a feeling of wellbeing.

I am also a Neal's Yard Consultant and use their beautiful products in my treatments when suitable. You can order through my website with Neal's Yard if you wish. Please click on the Neal's Yard badge below.

Each client is unique. I create customized reflexology treatments based on your needs.Whether it’s physical, emotional, or energetically, I address individual concerns.
